Well, I finally made a folder specifically for my collaborative works! I do a lot of those whenever I get the chance. They're so fun!! I'm going to start off this handy folder with a picture that was originally sketched by my awesome friend, Evenfall. (Or Sid, or Hayley, depending on the name you know her by..) She handed a photo of the sketch my way (she had no working scanner at the time), and I inked it up and added textures. This is no particular species, just a fun thing!

The risk of being heard by humans limits the frequency, but urban-dwelling werewolves can be rarely heard declaring their possession over the limited forested and park areas. Dec. 2004 This is a custom painted drum commission for Ravynwolf. It is painted on a 12" deer hide drum. It has a really high, sweet tone to it, and it's a drum I have been holding onto for over a year, waiting to find it the right owner. The symbolism of the spiral represents a path, one with a distinct beginning and end, but many curves along the way. It is a very personal-relating symbol. The horse represents strength (standing strong but moving forward), feminine energy, empathy, and emotional wisdom. The blue and water themes are just that; a symbol of life, rejuvination, healing, power, and comfort. The real version is much more vibrant in color and detail

Feb. 2005 14"x18", watercolor and india ink. There's a lot I could say about this piece - but to keep myself from writing a novel, I will just say this - This piece went through many transformations to get to this point. This originally started as an ink sketch of a piaffe (a dressage move) and then took off from there. I am fascinated with the idea of transformation, it is a constant inspiration I explore with a lot of my art. I think that is part of why I find myself so drawn to northwest coast native american art styles - their bold stylization covers a heavy theme of transformation and connection. Horses can fly without wings, they use the wings within.

I did this to use in my portfolio stuff as a logo or theme. Thiel had suggested that we start 'branding' ourselves right away, so that clients can start associating our names with our art, that's important. Everything has this on it- my business card, my self-promo stuff, my letterhead, and my portfolios have it on every page, along with a handwritten 'signature.' It's not actually my signature, because my real signature's illegible, but I did write my name in brushpen in my 'legible' handwriting.

Tribute to the Chief 18" x 24" (note: Was too big to scan, so a digital photograph was the best I could do. For the record, I want to say the photograph, in terms of colors mainly, does not give the original piece any justice.) A great and noble wolf chief deserves a portrait at the least. The feather headdress emphasizes his might while the cloak emphasizes his wisdom, and his eyes for trust. This was done as a final project for my Painting Composition I class, and I had tons of fun with it. I loved playing with the earth tones, and it was a good practice for realism. My goal for this painting was to have an overall warm feel, with the wolf, of course, being the main focus. So I turned it in, got a quick overall critique for the class, and ran off to take Kashra to the airport. Recieved Grade: A

This piece is brought to you by germs in my head. After a bit of late night delirium caused by my head cold, I got up, still pretty sure that I was being followed by my deamon, and sat down to paint. The other day I saw a painting out the corner of my eye in a store of what I thought was something like this, but it wasn't. It was actually a painting of an Indian sitting on a horse with some drippy watercolor. :P Anyway, Vantid is sitting at the edge cause it probably looks pretty cool down there.

This piece still needs some tweaking and some add ons, but is almost finished. I really love circular motifs and enigmatic backdrops with near ethereal creatures. I also like to use words like "enigmatic" and "ethereal". Scintillate is a pretty awesome word that I can't use here. Apparently full blooded wolves do not have blue eyes. I think this creature transcends such earthly bindings like genetic pigmentation. Ha!

She who dances continues the tradition forward into her SEVENTH year! This years Araikao prophecy dance seems to project confidence and certainty - she know where she's going, knows the steps to take and is well in control of her pace.She is moving forward in a sprightly stride, green for growth, vibrant with intent, and she's wearing diamonds on the soles of her shoes. Shes fit, she's muscular, she's happy. Looks like its going to be a good year. Of course I won't be certain until the end of the year and I can look back with the 2008 Araikao dancing on the threshold yet again. The improvement in anatomy is splendid. This is the first time I have worked her soley in colour pencil and it has certainly paid off! To see the previous six Araikao pictures Click here
